What is an Imperial Status?

Your Shi'vali's Imperial Status shows their standing within the Empire. All Shi'vali are considered Novice from the beginning as they will be faced with many trials and many tribulations in order to earn a higher status. Each Imperial Status offers new rewards and benefits, and each comes with a background update which displays their current status easily for all to see.

How many shi can be in a bonded/imperial image?  I haven't found a limit anywhere and just assumed it was 3 like the CoUs, but wanted to check before I submitted the winter siblings' bonded image.
